Smart Route, USA
Project Overview
STS collaborated with Smart Route, USA to design and manufacture high-precision Tetra Base Station Heat Sink Assemblies for telecom infrastructure applications. The project involved close engineering coordination and precision assembly of multiple components into a single, reliable system.
Challenges
- Understanding complex thermal and mechanical performance requirements
- Integrating more than 100 sub-parts into a single assembly
- Achieving consistent micron-level surface finish with powder coating
- Optimizing cost without compromising quality or performance
- Consolidating the Bill of Materials (BOM) to reduce complexity
Engineering Approach
The heat sink assemblies were co-developed through multiple rounds of technical discussions with the customer to gain a complete understanding of project requirements. Design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles were applied to ensure efficient production and optimized material usage.
Solution Delivered
- Fully assembled Tetra Base Station Heat Sink Assemblies
- Precision-machined components with micron-level finish
- Uniform powder coating for enhanced durability
- Successful integration of 100+ sub-parts into a single assembly
- Cost-optimized design meeting technical and commercial goals
Outcome
The project was delivered successfully in line with customer expectations. Through effective collaboration, cost optimization, and BOM consolidation, STS delivered a high-quality assembly solution and strengthened its position as a trusted engineering partner for complex telecom infrastructure projects.
